bathtubgirl's journal

Friday, February 23, 2001

It's Friday and I have been running on pure adrenaline for the last three days. Eva, Snowsurfer, and I have been working non-stop on the site re-design. We worked on this photoshop project last night. See bottom of the page for the cast.

I look forward to grooving out all this web nerdiness during my Spaceage Vaudeville show today at 10 a.m. Then, I will be back in the tub for Weekend Outlook and Happy Hour from 4-6 p.m. PST.

It's Mardi Gras time in The Big Easy. The Meters play tonight at The Howling Wolf. I wish I was there, in the city that care forgot. But no matter where I am, the spirit of Mardi Gras finds me.

I got five CD's in the mail from Glenn, of Flight 19. It's incredible funky acid jazz. Download his grooves here.

A message from our New York music correspondent, Spunky Lisa.

Do you really think I know what the hell is going on in New York? I can barely stick my nose out of the computer to tell you. Actually, last night I made it out to the local pub for a nightcap. At the Greenpoint Tavern (we call it GPT) you can get a quart of Budweiser for $3.50.

The boys, well, they like 'em big. Today I ordered a "medium" tea (what they call Grand) and they put two fucking bags in it. First off, why? Every moron knows that one tea bag is sufficient for at least two cups. And, if I knew they were going to put two bags of tea in my cup I would have taken one bag, still dry and in the wrapper, to go. I went over to the self service counter and threw them out. What a fucking waste. It's this American excess that makes us fat and materialistic. Small, now that's cool. I want everything small.

So, what is going on in New York?

The indie rock group, "The New Pornographers" sold out Brownies last week.

HARD DRIVE': DJ RANDALL+DJ ASSAULT+DETROIT GRAND PUBAHS

This is the cultural event of the week. I've got to get some "Ass and Titties, Ass, Ass, Titties, Titties, and drum and bass. As the Village Voice said, this show will make 2 Live Crew blush. That's the place for me. I'm out of class by 9, so maybe I can get up to SPEED, at 20 West 39th Street. I usually never do anything above 23rd, but I'll do it for DJ Assault and Detroit Bootie music.
